PurchaseBox Declutters Your Inbox One Receipt At A Time

Written by Reed Robinson | Apr 17, 2015 7:00:50 PM

Digital shopping has made transactions quicker and cleaner than ever – or so we think. Now instead of lost receipts or a bursting-at-the-seams wallet, we have an overflowing section of our personal inbox dedicated to merchant invoices and communications. PurchaseBox was invented to consolidate your physical and digital retail lives into one exceptionally easy-to-manage app, and to help you avoid that tinge of uneasiness whenever a cashier asks for your email address.

With PurchaseBox, instead of giving out your precious personal information, you can provide your PurchaseBox email address when checking out in person or online. Receipts and offers are automatically filed into the app, alongside any paper receipts you choose to upload. PurchaseBox gave us the down-low about how they are simplifying our digital retail lives before they join us for Beta.MN 2.0.

Tell us the story of how and why you started your company.

We realized after a shopping spree how unorganized a person's retail life is. There isn't a great way to capture receipt information; printed receipts get easily smudged, damaged, or lost, and digital receipts clutter people's personal inboxes. We created PurchaseBox to alleviate this frustration and make the process even better. PurchaseBox is a free consumer app that gets your retail receipts, offers, and other merchant communications out of your personal inbox and into one organized, secure app. Upon registration, a user receives his/her personal @purchasebox.com email account. When you provide this email account during checkout (either online or in store), your receipts and offers from that merchant will automatically be digitally filed into the right area - or boxes - of the app. You can also manually upload a paper receipt and store it within the app rather than in your wallet. This means no more paper receipts and no more offers flooding your personal inbox.

What's your most recent success or milestone hit?

PurchaseBox was recently chosen as a participating startup at the international Collision Conference in Las Vegas this coming May. More than 15,000 startup companies applied to be a showcasing startup, and only 800 were chosen. We are very honored and excited to be one of the chosen startups, and are eager to see what the conference has in store for us.

Where do you see your startup in 1 year?

We see PurchaseBox being the tool consumers use to handle all retail activities, including tracking purchases, organizing receipts, storing digital tickets and boarding passes, and connecting one-on-one with retailers. We also see us working with retailers to bring them a platform that can handle personal, consumer interactions to become more relevant in their consumers' lives.
