Giftbomb is a mobile gifting app where users can instantly send and receive personalized gift cards to well-rated local businesses.
Tell us the story of how and why you started your company.
The idea sparked when we found it very difficult to buy a drink for a friend celebrating his birthday at a restaurant. One thing lead to the other and within a couple of months, we found ourselves quitting our well paid, long term, full time jobs, and bootstrapping and launching the iOS app in Jan ’18 and the Android in Dec ’18. Our team is comprised of Stephanie, Shyam, Sai and a wonderful group of collaborators!
We were all in a stage of life feeling restless and wanting to create something of our own. It also lead to many sleepless nights being excited about the potential of Giftbomb. More importantly, this idea resonated deeply with our motivation towards life in general. That motivation being:
- We love creating thoughtful experiences
- We believe life is a celebration
- We enjoy putting a smile on others
- We take pleasure in seeing others succeed.
There have been many times where we have questioned various decisions over the course of this past year, but the reality is that we are so excited and grateful to be on this journey and are looking forward to it.
What's your most recent success or milestone hit?
We now have 75 businesses on the app and are adding more each week!
Where do you see your startup in 1 year?
We see Minnesotans enjoying “Giftbombing” each other, our company making a large and positive impact to local business partners, and our app getting ready to launch in a new city!
