Guide & Seek is a web-based app that connects career counselors and job seekers to share information digitally, changing the way career services are accessed and delivered.
Tell us the story of how and why you started your company.
I started Guide & Seek after a member of my family lost their job. In the months that followed, I saw how difficult it was to do the job search or find a retraining program alone. I also saw how support from a career counselor could have been transformational, but was too often sporadic, impersonal, or prohibitively expensive.
Fortunately, as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company, I knew that telemedicine was solving these very same challenges in the healthcare industry — making care ongoing, personalized, and affordable. Applied to career services, I knew this technology could change lives. I called my now-co-founder Nick, who I had interned with at the White House, and we got to work!
What's your most recent success or milestone hit?
Beyond getting into the Spring 2019 BETA cohort?!? We recently launched a pilot of our software with the students and career services teams at 5 IT training programs in the MSP area.
Where do you see your startup in 1 year?
In one year, Guide & Seek will be used by students, employers, and career services teams at training programs in multiple industries and in multiple cities across the country.
