Soccer continues the be the most popular sport in the world, while gaining in popularity within the United States. But, Soccer has yet to collide with another one of sporting fans' favorite obsessions – fantasy sports. Starting 11 aims to change that.
Starting 11 was founded by 5 avid soccer fans who also happen to love fantasy sports. They saw that there was nothing in the market for soccer fans or fantasy players that would let them actively engage with the soccer matches they were watching in real-time, so they built a fantasy platform that lets users make up to three live substitutions as matches are being played, just like a real-life soccer manager.
They started development on their platform last fall and officially launched August 1 with contests for the English Premier League. The platform allows the user build their own team and to take on opponents from around the world in 1 vs. 1 match ups, 50/50 contests, and winner take all tournaments.
The results speak for themselves. In the eight weeks since the launch, Starting 11 has had over 13,000 installs, has ran thousands of contests, and has supported thousands of substitutions and lineups. Today, less than 60 days after Starting 11 launched, it has users in 16 countries, matching soccer’s global footprint.
